DISCOVER MYKONOS

Mykonos is one of the most popular and beloved destinations in Greece and around the world.

Luxurious and cosmopolitan, attracts celebrities from all over the world from 1960 until today. Not coincidentally, it is voted as one of the top destinations for the best holiday: great beaches, award-winning restaurants, endless fabulous parties, expensive yachts, dream villas, beautiful people and five-star accommodation and beach services.
What many do not know about Mykonos, however, is that it is an island with “two sides”.

It may be intense, bright and cosmopolitan on the one hand but on the other it is very picturesque, with cobbled alleys, whitewashed houses, chapels and windmills, which exude tranquility and calmness.

The uniqueness of the island lies in the fact that it covers all the requirements equally: both visitors who are lovers of nightlife and intense emotions and those who wish to visit sights, archeological sites and discover the Cycladic tradition and the unique beauties of nature.

Mykonos is famous for its many and beautiful beaches with golden sand and crystal clear waters. Starting from the beautiful beach of Kalafatis and the Mykonos Supreme Comfort Suites & Villas you can visit many different beaches, some more cosmopolitan and others quieter.

Here are some recommendations:

Kalafatis is located about 12 km east of Mykonos town. It is an organized beach, with trees that offer natural shade and turquoise waters. It is one of the most beautiful on the island and not without reason! The golden sand and the clear blue waters create an idyllic landscape. The beach is well known for the great variety of water sports such as jet skiing and wind surfing and of course the beach bars and restaurants! In Kalafatis you will also find a beach without umbrellas and sunbeds.

Kalafatis beach is just 5 minutes-drive away from Mykonos Supreme Comfort Suites & Villas.

Lia: Lia is one of the most beautiful beaches in Mykonos with clear blue waters and great environment. It is located in the southeastern edge of the island, 13 km from Mykonos town, near Kalafatis.  Lia beach is well organized with colorful umbrellas, sunbeds and other useful facilities. Even though it is considered a rather quiet beach for the standards of Mykonos, Lia has been a favorite place for this reason. Its blue waters and the white sand create the ultimate combination for a swimming paradise. The beach is surrounded by rocks making it a great spot for diving and snorkeling. The beach is easily reachable if you pass from Ano Mera and then follow the signs.

Merchia Beach: Merchia is located on the northeast part of Mykonos, 8 km away from Ano Mera Village. The beach is situated in a small bay and is ideal for travelers seeking the alternative side of Mykonos. Merchia Beach has a small, sandy coast with a few pebbles and clear blue waters, surrounded by little vegetation and a few picturesque houses that belong mostly to some fishermen. There are no umbrellas or sunbeds available, although you will find some salt cedars that offer shade if you haven’t brought your umbrella especially during the hot summer days. In addition, given that the place is secluded with no taverns, restaurants or snack bars around, it is important to have water and food with you. However, keep in mind that access to Merchias is a bit difficult because you have to cross a dirt road in order to get to the beach, though it’s totally worth it.

Ornos is a wonderful, organized beach with velvety sand. The beach is located in front of a fishing village in the bay and has calm waters.

Psarou is one of the most popular beaches on the island, known for its beauty and the short distance from Mykonos town.

Agios Ioannis and Kapari are small, beaches, between of the best on the island, with a romantic sunset and views of Delos.

Paraga beach, about 6 km from Mykonos town, as well as the beaches of Paradise and Super Paradise should not be missing from the list of the passionate beach clubbers. There you will find numerous bars, loud music and the best DJs.

Alternative choices for those who do not want spree are the beaches of Agios Sostis and Fokos which are quiet with crystal clear waters.

Ftelia is located on the north side of the island. It is worth visiting as it is a beautiful, clean beach that is considered the most ideal for Windsurfing and Kite surfing due to the strong winds. Ftelia combines beach bars and surfing!

Elia, on the south coast, has the longest sandy beach on the island. It is quiet, organized and has many facilities for various water sports.

Kalo Livadi is also a beautiful, quiet beach, organized with many options in restaurants and beach bars.

Starting from Mykonos Supreme Comfort Suites & Villas all the beaches of Mykonos are almost within small distance by car, motorcycle or public transportation.

Mykonos needs no introduction for its exciting nightlife and the crazy parties, with its world-famous clubs and atmospheric bars. Often compared to Ibiza, Mykonos has the best party scene in the Greek islands with countless bars and clubs, known for their trendy decoration and the great music.

The cosmopolitan and party atmosphere of Mykonos began in the 1960s when the island flourished greatly with the arrival of many famous Athenians and world artists. Due to the world-class facilities, the island still receives many people from the upper class, such as artists and political personalities from all continents. However, it is also a place that attracts many younger generations and wild parties. From chic and expensive bars offering excellent drinks and food to modern clubs and coffee shops, Mykonos has it all. The most famous shopping street is Matogiannia, full of beautiful cafes and elegant restaurants

or those who prefer a more romantic night style, there is the famous neighborhood of Little Venice in Mykonos Town, with a great variety of bars at the beachfront.

When it comes to places to see in Greece, the idyllic island of Mykonos is at the top of most traveler’s lists.

Known for its whitewashed blue-roofed homes, this island has reached worldwide fame and has become a hotspot for jet setters, honeymooners and party-goers.
There’s something for everyone on Mykonos island and (if you want) it’s definitely possible to escape the crowds and parties.

The villages across this Cycladic island are a labyrinth of narrow streets and alleyways, which were used as a way to confuse pirates.
Its stunning coastline is perfect for sipping wine while taking in the golden sunset, and its rocky landscape and mountainous roads are great for ATV and motorbike trips.

Little Venice: The most famous neighborhood on Mykonos is commonly known as Little Venice.

Located in the town of Mykonos, what makes little Venice so appealing (besides its beauty) is that there’s something for everyone here.
The area is perfect for taking photos, enjoying meals at small intimate restaurants (many of which are built in former sea captain’s houses), souvenir shopping, and sipping on drinks at one of the bars.
This scenic section of the town lies along the southwest part of the harbor and is one of the best places to visit in Mykonos

Windmills: Sitting on the coast just outside the neighborhood of Little Venice in Mykonos Town lie these white and brown windmills.
The best thing about these windmills is that they are free to visit, are great for photos, and are one of my favorite spots to watch the sunset.

Panagia Paraportiani Church: While the whitewashed houses of Mykonos are known around the world, perhaps the most notable building is the Panagia Paraportiani.
This church located in the Kastro neighborhood is one of the most amazing churches in the entire world. What makes it so popular is that it’s not just one church.

Actually, it is five small churches built almost on top of each other across several centuries.
In fact, the Panagia Paraportiani isn’t even the main church but acts like a dome to the other five churches. If you are an Instagrammer, aspiring photographer, or just looking for a lovely view then this is one place on Mykonos that you simply can’t miss.

Armenistis Lighthouse: One site that pleases everyone is the Armenistis Lighthouse. Mykonos island has a rich maritime history. This lighthouse pays tribute to that history. It was built over 100 years ago in response to a ship that sank off the coast — a wreck in which 11 people lost their lives.
The lighthouse is also built in the perfect sunset spot on the northwest part of the island, around 6.4km outside of Chora (Mykonos Town). From the lighthouse, you can gaze at Tinos island.

The lighthouse is loved by photographers, sunset seekers, couples, and solo travelers. It is a perfect spot for anyone to visit.

Ano Mera Village: Ano Mera is one of the oldest villages on the entire island so you might find it surprising that it is so rarely visited by other travelers (other than those stopping by to take photos at Paleokastro Monastery). It’s worth some time to walk around and explore the village, enjoy the peace and quiet, and check out the other sites in the area.
Strolling around here is one of the best things to do in Mykonos to get away from the crowds. You can reach Ano Mera by car, local bus or taxi.

Day Trip to Delos: This tiny island is not only scenic but also plays a vital role in Greek history and mythology. Delos is the “Delphi” of the Cycladic Islands and was a major religious spot in ancient Greece.
On the island shrouded in brush, there is a large palm tree that marks the only freshwater on the island. Plus, this is where the Titan Leto gave birth to Apollo.
Today, there are ruins of various temples scattered around that cover a range of different eras. The island also hosts the Archaeological Museum of Delos, which is worth visiting for its rare exhibits. After Delos, you can make a stop in Rhenia – the second island with which Mykonos and Delos form a single island complex. Rhenia is a desert island with paradise beaches, crystal clear waters and sandy beach, which is waiting for you to explore!
Delos is just a 30-minute ferry ride from Mykonos, making it one of the best day trips you can do.

Wind Surfing- Kite surfing: Mykonos gathers every summer many surfers, who take advantage of the strong winds. You can pick from dozens of beaches, but the most secluded are the best. You can choose Korfos, Ftelia, Megali Ammos and Kalafatis where you can also take classes with professional surfers.

Water sports- Water skiing: Most organized beaches of Mykonos offer visitors the opportunity for water skiing and various special water sports. From the most beginners to the most experienced there is always the option of rent equipment and take classes by professionals.

Diving: Mykonos is one of the best destinations for diving in Greece. There are organized diving centers on the island, with many years of experience and modern equipment that offer a series of programs for beginners and advanced. The best month for diving in Mykonos is September, due to the appropriate water temperature and the high visibility at the seabed. The most suitable beach and best known for diving is the beach of Lia.
